Everyone has them. The after-waking nightmares: dates called Datemares. I didn’t get married until later in life. I have lots of material. Thank you for taking the time to read my tales.
“Summer, 1979” – Fictive Dream
My latest entry into this chaotic world of singlehood is a flash piece, “Summer, 1979” and was published in Fictive Dream, appropriately, in August, 2021. It’s the story of a desperate teen, who finds herself in a situation that was probably all too common back in the day. Grateful to the editor, Laura Black, for selecting my hormone-addled yarn.
“The Light of Day” – Rivanna Review
My story was published in the December 2021 print issue of this lit mag that’s out of Virginia.
The story features a romance between a retired elevator repairman and a young blind woman who plays guitar. The narrative is based on a couple I used to see in my condo complex.
“Paradise” – Button Eye Review Summer Contest, First Place
This was an utter shock. I finally found a home for my dark, twisted tale. It will be published in 2022 in their inaugural print issue. Read an online version here.
This story is about an ER nurse and her friend, who have a night out that unspools in a way neither could have ever imagined.
“Wonderland” – Rumble Fish Quarterly (2018 Double-Dealers Issue)
This is my first published story about a hideous date. Inspired, of course, by true events.
This story centers on an advertising art director and a graphic designer, who meet online and decide to have dinner. Innocuous, right?
